KIT INCLIDES:
1 x Manual Counter Balance
1 x Manual Pickup
1 x Installations Instructions (Similar to the text below)
REMINDER:
Additional items necessary to complete the installation exist on the reel as it was originally assembled at the Penn factory. Be careful not to misplace items as many will need to be reused in the installation. Many of these items are no longer available and thus irreplaceable.
INSTALLTION INSTRUCTIONS
Can be used on these Penn reel models:
747, 757, 550SS, 650SS, 750SS, 850SS, 6500SS, 7500SS & 8500SS
Remove the bail wire (024 750) and roller assembly by unscrewing the bail stud screw (036 750) from the bail arm (034 750). While disassembling, note the position of the bail stud screw and its lock washer (036A750), plus the roller washer (132 750). Those parts are used with the manual pickup system.
After unscrewing the counterbalance attached to the bail wire, attach the counterbalance included in the kit. Now attach the kit’s manual pickup to the bail arm using the reel’s bail stud screw and lock washer. Be sure the roller along with its washer and sleeve are in their proper places. If in doubt, consult your owner’s manual.
Prior to tightening, the bail wire stud on the manual pickup should be positioned as indicated on the attached 069 750 SETUP image on this website page. Field tests have shown this to be the best position but you may prefer the wire to be angled back more.
In addition to using this conversion as a true manual pickup system, you also have the option of operating the bail arm and external trip for picking up line.
Remember to save your full bail wire should you ever decide to use that original fully bailed set-up again.
